Giving More Ontarians Access to Affordable Legal Services

Following our successful advocacy on the issue, the Attorney General was joined by the OBA today as she announced that the first Legal Aid income-eligibility threshold increase since 1996 will take effect on November 1st. The initial threshold increase will be 6% and will be followed by two additional 6% increases by April 2016.

Notice to the Profession Dispute Resolution Officer Panel

The Dispute Resolution Officer (DRO) project operates in Barrie, Brampton, Durham, Hamilton, Milton, Newmarket and Toronto. The DRO project provides family litigants with an early evaluation of their case by a neutral third party for purposes of facilitating settlement and narrowing the issues in dispute. In locations where the DRO program is offered, the initial conference on a Motion to Change is before a DRO rather than a judge.
