The OBA’s Notwithstanding Clause (“NWC”) Summit will be held on December 9, 2024. The program will explore developing trends in the use of the NWC and the development of a set of guideposts for future use. Join us to hear insights from expert panels, and to participate in breakout discussions designed to surface the legal principles that can be brought to bear when assessing the use of the NWC.

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement has provided an important update on service delivery options and company key requirements.

The OBA will be providing a submission to outline serious concerns with the proposed governance changes to Convocation, the primary concern being the reduction of elected lawyers on Convocation to less than 50%.

The LSO is making significant changes to the way that lawyers and firms pay their fees. Firms and organizations that would like to participate in the bulk payment process (where firms make one payment for their roster of lawyers) must notify the Law Society by December 6, 2024, by emailing accounts@LSO.ca.
