TORONTO – Last year, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) and Pro Bono Ontario (PBO) issued a challenge to help improve access to justice in the province. Lawyers answered the call, collectively volunteering hundreds of hours to assisting low-income Ontarians with their legal needs through PBO’s Free Legal Advice Hotline.

The Governance & Equity Committee has initiated the process to recruit, review, and recommend Indigenous and Equity-Deserving candidates for appointment to the national Board next year, under section 33.1 of the Bylaws.

The Canadian Corporate Counsel Association – Ontario Chapter Section is pleased to announce Ashley Jane Butts, of the BASF Canada, as the recipient of the 2024 CCCA Ontario Chapter Award of Excellence. Colin Lachance will work with lawyers to integrate AI into profession

The Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) will be moving to the Sensitive Content Management (SCM) service which is now available. This is to ensure continued service for LAT’s stakeholders as EATS will be decommissioned effective March 1, 2024. Lawyers have the option to begin using SCM immediately. The Enterprise Attachment Transfer Service (EATS) will be decommissioned, effective March 1, 2024.
