To Gown, or Not to Gown? That is the Question

When do you gown? A practical question not taught in law school, the following will provide a how to guide on the do’s and don’ts of dressing for court. The general rule is that if you are appearing before a Master you are not required to gown, whereas if you are appearing before a judge you are required to gown.

The Young Lawyers’ Division in Ottawa hosted its annual event Expert Advice on Launching your Legal Career: I have my Law Degree, Now What? The first part of the event focused on ways to facilitate the transition from school into the legal profession. The second part of the event focused on more practical matters. However, the highlight of the day was the short presentation given on how to handle our finances.
