As the holidays approach, we may find ourselves distracted by the lights, the family gatherings, the parties, the long to-do lists... We may flit from work to event to event and back to work again in an effort to fit it all in but without really focusing on what we're doing, be it the task at hand, a conversation with a colleague, or spending quality time with loved ones. Here are some tips to be all in at any moment.
1. Take 5-10 minutes to focus on you before starting your day or embarking on a new initiative. Close your eyes and fully focus on your breathing, counting as you inhale and exhale. Think about what you are looking forward to.
2. Schedule your personal events as well as your work tasks to ensure you have time to focus on each activity. Remove distractions to give your brain a chance to engage in the activity, whatever it may be. If you can, turn off your mobile phone or other devices. If you're at an event, focus your energy on being with them, listening to them and enjoying their company.
