Noted legal historian Philip Girard, preeminent author and law professor has been honoured by the Ontario Government for excellence in legal writing, awarding him the Mundel Medal.

The Ontario Bar Association (OBA), a branch of the Canadian Bar Association and Ontario’s largest most diverse network of lawyers, is moving forward with an ambitious and achievable agenda to tackle inequality in the justice sector and beyond over the next 10 years.

Lawyers Lead Free Public Information Sessions During Make A Will Month Everyone needs a properly drafted will. This month, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) and its members will be promoting the importance of wills as they mark Make A Will Month with free virtual legal information sessions in every region of the province.

The LASA 2020 was proclaimed on October 18, 2021. Under this new legislation, LAO has established rules and policies to manage and administer legal aid.

TORONTO – New OBA President Karen Perron wants Ontario lawyers to have everything they need – both inside and outside the practice of law – at their fingertips. And she knows that as an association dedicated to serving the whole lawyer, the OBA is best positioned to provide that.

TORONTO – Following the close of the election today, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is pleased to announce its 2021-2022 Board of Directors. With the combination of experience and diverse perspectives, the board is ideally suited to move the profession forward in post-pandemic times.

Effective Monday, June 7, 2021, the Toronto Region Video Bail Pilot has been expanded to 43 division supporting 1911 Eglinton. 43 division will now be the central lockup for 41, 42 and 43 divisions (previously 41 division). Video bails will take place using the Zoom platform. Pre and post court consultations/interviews with in-custody accused will take place using the JVN webRTC platform.
