New Provincial Practice Direction Regarding Criminal Proceedings in Superior Court

A new Provincial Practice Direction Regarding Criminal Proceedings comes into effect on May 1, 2017, as described in correspondence from the Superior Court of Justice. The Practice Direction aims to enhance the timeliness, scheduling, and trial readiness of criminal proceedings in the Superior Court through a variety of procedural changes.

Ontario’s Juror Support Program officially launched

Last November, Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General announced plans for a juror counselling program to be in place in the new year. Per this announcement, the Ontario’s Juror Support Program was officially launched on January 31, 2017.
