We are looking for expressions of interest from human rights practitioners to prepare and present a paper at the upcoming conference hosted by the Constitutional, Civil Liberties & Human Rights section, Administrative Law section and Labour & Employment Law section of the Ontario Bar Association.
We are interested in assembling a diverse group of speakers to present at the conference. As such, we encourage submissions from members of equality-seeking groups.
Presentations should focus on practical approaches to dealing with discrimination and harassment, remedies, substantive legal developments and practice/procedural developments at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Commission and Tribunal.
Some examples include:
-
substantive developments in human rights law and practice;
-
procedural and ethical considerations in human rights litigation;
-
human rights law in the courts, including appellate review;
-
damages and other remedies; and
-
human rights policies and compliance considerations.
Expressions of interest are due January 13, 2014. Your expression of interest should be no longer than 500 words. Please include a short biography and three proposed topics. Please direct your expression of interest and any inquiries concerning the conference to Andrea Wobick at awobick@upfhlaw.ca.
Selections will be made from the proposals received. Selected presenters will be contacted by February 10, 2014 and must submit their final paper by May 2, 2014.
