OBA's Neutral Diversity Report

The Ontario Bar Association’s Working Group on Neutral Diversity has released a report examining diversity in alternative dispute resolution settings and proposing recommendations about how it can be improved in Ontario. Efforts to increase diversity in arbitration and mediation have been ongoing in other countries, but the issue has largely gone unaddressed in Ontario.

Submission on Guidelines for Digital Hearings

The OBA has been working with the SCJ Civil Working Group on ways to improve the efficient and effective use of digital hearings and applaud the SCJ for its ongoing work in this area. In addition to the work that the OBA is supporting before the SCJ Civil Working Group in this area, we hope that this submission provides some additional substantive feedback to assist with this matter.

Submissions on Fixing the Long-Term Care Act 2021 Phase 1 Regulations

The lawyers of the Health Law and Elder Law Sections of the Ontario Bar Association formed a Working Group to review the proposed Regulation. Although the lawyers who form part of the Health and Elder Law Sections advise and represent various stakeholders in the senior’s sector and may have different perspectives regarding the Act and draft Regulation, we do agree that the following provisions in the Regulation need more attention and thought.
