The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services has advised that on October 19, 2021 the new Ontario Business Registry System will launch and the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 will be proclaimed into force.
The OBA’s Business and Charity and For-for-Profit Law sections have been strong advocates for proclamation of the Act, including providing advice to government on the content of necessary regulations. You can find links to the final regulations to implement the Act and new registry system at the OBA Sector Updates page.
The Ontario Business Registry System will allow businesses and not-for-profit corporations to access Ontario government services such as registering a business, incorporating a not-for-profit and filing an annual return. Any business, including a not-for-profit corporation, that is registered, incorporated, declared or licensed in Ontario will have an online profile in the new business registry.
