This fall was a great season for programming for the Women Lawyers Forum. I had the privilege of watching the recent Feminist Fight Club program, which I was conveniently able to do via webcast (and you can, too—it’s in the archives!) while I earned 1.5 EDI hours.
The program was a panel discussion on gender issues in the workplace, based on journalist Jessica Bennett’s book, Feminist Fight Club: A Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace. The panel was comprised of insightful, knowledgeable women, who gave real-life examples of issues that women face in the workplace, as well as ideas for how to address those issues.
The panel included: the former Ontario Regional Manager of McCarthy Tetrault, Kirby Chown; Fay Faraday, a lawyer focused on human rights, labour and constitutional law who serves as the Discrimination and Harassment Counsel for the for the Law Society of Ontario; and Richa Sandill, an employment and human rights lawyer, and member of the executive of the Women Lawyers Forum.
