A new bench-bar committee has been established at the request of the Superior Court of Justice’s Regional Senior Judges Council. The committee’s membership includes judges, members of the bar, and Court Services Division staff. Meetings will be held quarterly. The purpose of the committee is to:
- foster a consistent, provincewide approach to how the courts handle estate matters
- facilitate communication between the bench and bar
- recommend amendments to practice directions for consideration by the Regional Senior Judges Council
- recommend to the Estates Subcommittee of the Civil Rules Committee proposed amendments to the Rules of Civil Procedure regarding estates; and
- monitor changes in the law and share this information with the judiciary, court staff, and the bar.
