We note the tragic events in Buffalo, Orange County, Uvalde, and too many more around the world, and recognize the importance of focusing on the unique life experiences of those who live and practice in the far too often precarious space where sexual and racial identity intersect. We note the ongoing struggles of the trans community, particularly those facing oppressive exclusionary laws. We note the increasing curtailment of personal reproductive health choices in the United States and the disproportionate impact it will have on women, particularly racialized and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged women. We recognize that our own communities’ history demonstrates the past erasure and continued failure to recognize and celebrate the many cultural and political contributions of vulnerable and racialized members within the 2SLGBTIQIA+ community.
