On June 8, 2021, members of the Public Sector Lawyers section and the legal community came together virtually to honour Paul Dubé with the Ontario Bar Association’s 2021 Tom Marshall Award of Excellence for Public Sector Lawyers. Following the presentation of this award, which is summarized in a separate article, Professor Elizabeth Sanderson provided an interesting and timely summary of the ethical challenges facing public sector lawyers. Margaret Drent and Rita Roy co-chaired the program.
Professor Sanderson has substantial experience in public law, serving as Nunavut's Deputy Minister of Justice until January 2016. She is currently the Public Service Mentor in residence at the University of Ottawa Common Law School and teaches Public and Constitutional Law. Previously, she was Justice Canada’s Assistant Deputy Attorney General, Aboriginal Affairs Portfolio.
