Name: Lisa Danay Wallace
Position: Chair
Who is Lisa Danay Wallace? Professionally, I am a technology lawyer working at WeirFoulds LLP. A good day for me is a day filled with calls with clients about the technology they need and negotiating agreements. I am also this year’s Chair of the OBA’s IT/IP Law Section and a board member of the Canadian Technology Law Association. Personally, I am a proud nerd!
Why did you choose IP/IT and what would you tell a young lawyer entering the IT/IP field? I have always had a passion for innovation and technology and IT law was a natural choice for me. I always sought out experiences during undergrad and law school that would give me hands on experience so that I could learn to understand business and how technology companies prioritize risks and opportunity. I would tell a young lawyer that it’s important to show your demonstrated interest and work hard to find experiences that let you start your IT law journey early!
What does the “regular, non-lawyer” you, like to do? I can disappear for hours into a good PS4 game or HBO series. I also love to take on overly ambitious cooking projects that leave my dinner guests eating later than expected. Very European! Also…puzzles.
