OBA Executive Title: Chair, Citizenship and Immigration Section; Member, OBA Institute 2020 Planning Committee; Member, OBA Women Lawyers Forum (WLF) Executive
Primary Area(s) of Immigration Practice: Corporate Immigration/Compliance
Brief Biography: I have been practicing exclusively in the field of corporate immigration and citizenship law for over 27 years. I also developed and led the Canadian immigration compliance consulting practice of a large, multinational client services firm.
I have served for many years as a member of the OBA’s Citizenship and Immigration Section Executive in many capacities, as well as serving as the Submissions Coordinator on the CBA National Immigration Section Executive. I am also a member of the OBA WLF Executive, which allows me to promote and support equality and diversity in the legal profession. I have been a member of the OBA Institute Planning Committee for the past three years and was a Board member for the Jewish Refugee Action Network.
I have appeared before parliamentary and senate committees and have lectured extensively on immigration and citizenship issues at law schools, colleges, and professional organizations.
Motivation for Joining the OBA Executive: Over 25 years ago, a colleague and friend “volunteered” me – and I am forever grateful. Joining the OBA executive allows me to give back to the profession while meeting wonderful people who I am proud to call not only my colleagues, but also my friends. Most of all, in providing me with opportunities to support others in the immigration bar, my work with the OBA allows me to honour and thank all those colleagues who have helped me.
