THE ROLE
We are currently seeking an experienced Workplace Investigator to join our team.
As an investigator you will be tasked with complex, high-profile investigations for a variety of employers. A significant proportion of your cases will involve allegations of harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying, and other forms of misconduct.
At Barker Hutchinson you will be supported to reach your full potential as an investigator. You will be given a high degree of autonomy while being provided consistent mentorship and guidance. You will work primarily from home with the ability to travel during investigations.
As an investigator you will be responsible for the following:
- Conducting complex investigations for a variety of employers;
- Creating investigation plans for all cases;
- Liaising with employers, counsel, and other investigators;
- Interviewing complainants, respondents and witnesses;
- Ensuring each step in the investigative process is accessible to individuals with disabilities and incorporating a trauma-informed approach throughout;
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all investigations to ensure all evidence and documentation is properly stored and protected;
- Drafting factual findings, assessing credibility and evaluating respondents’ conduct against applicable policy and legislation;
- Gathering information from a variety of resources; and
- Generating reports that will be read by Barker Hutchinson & Associates’ clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements for successful candidacy include:
- Degree in Law, Health, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience conducting workplace investigations;
- Superior written and oral communication skills;
- A high degree of discretion and sensitivity;
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple assignments at any given time;
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines;
- Ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities; and
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Candidates with the following skills are particularly encouraged to apply:
- Experience investigating allegations of sexual harassment, harassment, bullying and discrimination;
- Fluency in French, both written and oral.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000
- Professional dues, including LSO fees and LawPRO premiums
