About the Role: Karas' Brampton office is seeking a junior associate lawyer to join our litigation practice. As an Associate, you will have carriage of and assist with various litigation files, assess legal matters, and provide support. This is a hybrid role that requires proactive participation in client meetings, legal research, and trial preparations.
The successful candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in litigation and advocacy. Experience in litigation would be a benefit. The ideal candidate must have proven client management skills, strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills and be prepared to engage in a team environment on challenging work with our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Intake Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for potential clients, coordinating intake calls and inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
- Communication Management: Handle all communications with precision, including screening calls, managing correspondence, and responding promptly.
- Calendar and Schedule Coordination: Manage calendars and court schedules, ensuring optimal time management and scheduling.
- Travel Arrangements: Coordinate all travel logistics, including accommodations, transportation, and itinerary preparation.
- Meeting Support: Provide comprehensive support for meetings, court appearances, and speaking engagements, including documentation preparation and logistics coordination.
- Confidentiality Maintenance: Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of one to three years' experience in a litigation role, preferably in a law firm.
- Legal research, Legal writing, and Case management skills
- Experience in human rights litigation or related area
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
- Knowledge of federal and provincial human rights laws
- Knowledge of International human rights laws and conventions
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe, etc.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Professional Demeanor: Possess a calm, confident, and professional demeanor under pressure.
Hours: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
