Role Description
Foisy & Associates is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Accident Benefits Lawyer to join our team of personal injury professionals. This full-time, on-site role will involve managing complex personal injury cases, specifically focusing on accident benefits and handling cases involving brain injuries, orthopedic injuries, and mental and behavioural injuries. The selected lawyer will work closely with our Accident Benefits Team, providing comprehensive legal and litigation services from initial consultation through to an adjudicative hearing, with a client-centered approach.
Responsibilities
- Client Representation: Serve as a legal representative in accident benefit claims, advocating for client interests and providing compassionate support throughout their legal journey.
- Case Management: Independently manage accident benefit cases, including all aspects of pre-hearing preparation and documentation.
- Statutory Compliance: Apply knowledge of Ontario’s Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) and Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) Common Rules of Practice to cases.
- Negotiation & Advocacy: Conduct negotiations, mediations, and, where necessary, represent clients at hearings.
- Collaborative Approach: Work closely with a team of accident benefits professionals, sharing insights and strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) / Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licenced to practice law in Ontario.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in handling personal injury cases within Ontario’s accident benefits framework.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Ontario's Insurance Act, Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule and LAT Common Rules of Practice.
- Skills: Compassionate approach with clients, providing support through all stages of their case; Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; Strong negotiation and advocacy skills; and, Ability to work effectively within a team environment, demonstrating collaboration and adaptability.
