Associate Lawyer
Johnson & Schwass Professional Corporation is a well-established Law Firm in Markdale, Ontario, which serves clients in Southern Grey County, and throughout Ontario. We offer legal services including both commercial and residential real estate, refinance transactions, institutional and private mortgages, the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, assistance and guidance with both estate planning and the administration of estates, corporate and commercial law (including shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, share purchases/sales, asset purchases/sales, etc.), general contract law, and commissioning/notary services to the public. We are currently seeking an Associate Lawyer, who has 3+ years of experience, to join our fantastic team. The successful candidate must wish to focus exclusively on solicitor work, with a desire to support our growing team by contributing to a collaborative environment and creating strong and long-lasting relationships with both clients and each other.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years work experience required in solicitor-side legal services, including: Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial Law, Wills, Powers of Attorneys, Estate Planning and Estate Administration (knowledge of all of the above is beneficial, however consideration will be given to those applicants that show a keen interest and willingness to learn).
- Licenced with the Law Society of Ontario and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage files independently.
- Genuine passion to learn something new every day, and a willingness to share your knowledge with an overall view to serving the client in the most cost-effective manner possible.
- Experience handling residential real estate files from beginning to end with a “hands-on” approach with respect to real estate.
- Team player with a commitment to client service.
- Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Excellent research and drafting skills.
- Reliable, punctual, responsible and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent computer skills and use of Microsoft Office 365, Word, Outlook, Teraview, Conveyancer and Unity. Knowledge of other software such as Soluno and Estate-a-base is also beneficial.
Office Hours: Monday to Friday (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Please note this position is strictly an in-office position with some possible remote work, after probationary period.
Salary: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year (commensurate with experience).
