Improving the Justice System

The OBA Foundation believes in an Ontario bar that belongs to everyone. Our ongoing work includes funding projects that promote legal education and access to justice, such as programs in marginalized communities, high school trial moots and fellowships in law and ethics.

OBA Foundation Scholarship

Awarded annually to a student or students who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming obstacles to reach their goals, the OBA Foundation Scholarship will help deserving students realize their dreams of becoming lawyers.

Law Day

Law Day is a national event celebrating the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Originated by the Canadian Bar Association and first held in Canada in 1983, Law Day is aimed at educating and informing the public about the role and importance of the law

OBA Foundation Strathy Award

The OBA Foundation Strathy Award recognizes the contribution of an individual or group towards a greater understanding of mental health issues in the justice system and/or the destigmatizing of mental illness, whether through community work, research, teaching, activism, participation in the justice system, or otherwise.
