Greg Crone, a seasoned journalist, Queen’s Park correspondent and top-level communications advisor, joined the Ontario Bar Association this week as our Media Relations and Communications Manager.
Greg has written for regional and national newspapers including many years reporting as a member of the Queen’s Park Press Gallery. He began working in journalism at the weekly Grand River Sachem in his home town of Caledonia and went on to the Hamilton Spectator, Owen Sound Sun Times, Kitchener-Waterloo Record, the Financial Post and the National Post. Most recently he was the founding managing editor of QP Briefing, a daily, online, paid-subscription publication owned by Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd., covering Ontario’s government, legislature, and politics.
Greg was senior writer for the Leader of the Official Opposition and senior communications advisor for an Ontario cabinet minister in several portfolios including Attorney General, Economic Development and Aboriginal Affairs. He was also senior policy advisor for the mayor of Hamilton.
Greg holds an honours BA in political science from McMaster University, an MA in journalism from the University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from Queen’s University.
On his third day on the job, Greg answered an invitation to present to the Ministry of the Attorney General’s Crown Counsel Summer School on the intersection between media and policy. Greg’s talent and knowhow will enhance the OBA’s media presence and provide our membership with valuable media advice and training.
