OBA RECOGNIZED WITH A MAKE A BETTER CANADA AWARD

Jill Mayer presented with award by CEO of CSAE Michael AndrersonThe Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) has recognized the Ontario Bar Association with their Make a Better Canada Award in the Professional Development and Education Category.

The award was given for the OBA’s ”The Mindful Lawyer” CPD Series

“Championed by past Ontario Bar Association (OBA) President Orlando Da Silva, LSM, this professional development series was developed to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues of lawyers and to ensure lawyers have the knowledge and supports they need to manage their own mental health,” says Ed Upenieks, OBA President. “This is another example of how the OBA works to support its nearly 17,000 members.”

Jill Mayer, OBA’s Director of CPD was presented the award in Calgary at the CSAE’s National Conference on Friday, October 30, 2015.  

About the Award

First awarded in 2013, the CSAE’s Make A Better Canada Awards recognize CSAE Member organizations that have initiated innovative projects resulting in positive outcomes in the areas of public education/information, public affairs/government relations, professional development and education, and ethical, technical or professional standards. 

In the Professional Development and Education category, organizations are recognized: for having developed and disseminated best-practice information among members to support the application of new skills and the development of a competitive and skilled workforce.

Criteria Jill Mayer CSAE Award

  • Awards are presented for programs that have demonstrated successful results within the previous 12 months (May 1, 2014 – April 30, 2015)
  • Programs may be community-based, provincial, national or international, but must originate within Canada
  • Programs may have been implemented over a period of years, though results of the program should have been demonstrated within the twelve month period described above. ​
