Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet shuffle today has resulted in an increase in the number of lawyers holding ministerial or associate ministerial portfolios, from four to seven. The OBA congratulates these individuals on their new roles, as they join existing lawyers in cabinet in service of the public interest:
- Hon. Doug Downey, Attorney General of Ontario
- Hon. Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health
- Hon. Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Francophone Affairs
- Hon. Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, and Minister of Indigenous Affairs
- Hon. Ross Romano, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities
- Hon. Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction
- Hon. Michael Tibollo, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions
The OBA recognizes the value these lawyers bring to Ontario’s legislative process – as professionals with great respect for detail, understanding of the rule of law and specialized training in identifying issues and finding solutions – and looks forward to working with them.
