Toronto Fridge FestivalA group of 13 lawyers are collaborating in the writing, directing, producing and acting of a play that is being staged at Toronto’s Fringe Festival.

The comedy, called Watching Seana McKenna Watch Paint Dry, is being presented by The Lactors’ Studio, which is a group of 12 lawyers who love theatre. Their website can be found at lactorstudio.com.

The play, written by Peter Hamiwka and Diane Baker Mason, is described as “part Waiting For Godot, part Title of Show, with a splash of Twelve Angry Men,” and is said to ask “the big dramatic” questions such as “What is art? What is life? What is the nexus between them? And what’s that woman on stage doing, anyway?”

The play is directed by Keri Bennett and E. Llana Nakonechny. The cast includes Keri Bennett, Satinder Besrai, Peter Hamiwka, Melanie Herbin, Ajay Krishnan, Saroja Kuruganty, Gavin Magrath, Diane Baker Mason, Kerri Salata, Brent Vickar, and Catherine Wiley.

Salata is well-known at the Ontario Bar Association as a member of OBA Council.

Proceeds from ticket sales are going to the Lawyers Feed the Hungry program, which provides meals to hungry people and financial support to charitable agencies concerned with hunger relief.

The play opens July 4 and runs until July 13 at the George Ignatieff Theatre, which is located in the University of Toronto’s Trinity College, 15 Devonshire Place, Toronto.
