OTTAWA -- Pascale Daigneault, president of the Ontario Bar Association, offered her congratulations to the newest inductees into the AJEFO (Association des juristes d’expression francaise de l’Ontario) Order of Merit.
Daigneault attended the AJEFO annual conference Oct 4-5 in Ottawa.
Some of the issues discussed at the conference included cyberbullying and access to justice in French.
Daigneault offered her congratulations to Josée Bouchard and Michèle Bastarache, who were inducted into the AJEFO Order of Merit.
Bouchard is the equity advisor at the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Bastarache, a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, is also known for co-chairing the Poirier-Bastarache commission which led to the recognition of the equality of French and English the two official languages in New Brunswick.
Other dignitaries attending the conference included Roy McMurtry, former Chief Justice of Ontario, Madeleine Meilleur, Ontario’s minister of community safety and correctional services and minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, Thomas Conway, treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and Colonel (Ret'd) Michel Drapeau of Ottawa.
