BROCKVILLE - Pascale Daigneault, president of the Ontario Bar Association, was among the dignitaries present to witness the swearing-in of Mr. Justice Kevin Bruce Phillips.
Justice Phillips was sworn in as a judge of the Ontario Court of Justice on October 30, 2013 by Mr. Justice Hugh Fraser, the regional senior justice, at the Brockville courthouse.
“It was an honour to be present representing the Ontario bar at the swearing in of Mr. Justice Phillips,” said Daigneault, who did double duty also representing the Canadian bar.
Justice Phillips was formerly an assistant crown attorney with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Ottawa.
Phillips is married to Ottawa Citizen journalist Caroline Phillips, who writes the paper’s popular “Around Town” column, and who was present at the ceremony along with their three children.
The OBA, a branch of the Canadian Bar Association, is the voice of the legal profession in Ontario, representing more than 17,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students throughout the province.
