Jamie Trimble, a former president of the Ontario Bar Association President, has been appointed to Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
The announcement was made Friday, December 20, in Ottawa by federal Justice Minister Peter MacKay.
Trimble was born and raised in Hamilton and graduated from McMaster University and Osgoode Hall Law School. He practised insurance defence law at Hughes Amys LPP in Hamilton. He is certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada and received the designation of Canadian Risk Manager from the Global Risk Management Institute.
Trimble was OBA president for 2008-9 and was a member of the executive of the OBA’s civil litigation section from 1991-2006. He served as chair of the section from1996-98.
He was the OBA’s representative on the Toronto Case Management Steering Committee for 10 years, and has been the OBA’s representative on numerous other Bench and Bar committees.
Trimble was honoured with the Ontario Bar Association Award for Distinguished Service in 2012.
As a judge of the Ontario Superior Court, Trimble will preside in Milton.
