Biography
Ian Andres is an associate in the Administrative Law Group at Goodmans LLP. His practice encompasses a wide variety of municipal and land development matters for public and private sector clients throughout Ontario. He assists clients on municipal issues ranging from by-law interpretation and enforcement to complex planning applications and appeals with significant environmental and heritage components. He regularly provides advice on procurement, lobbying and permit issues, and he has an in-depth knowledge of development grant incentives and brownfield remediation programs, including the City of Toronto’s IMIT program. He also frequently represents landowners on property tax assessment and rebate appeals.
Ian has served as a member of the OBA Municipal Law Section Executive for the past five years. He has authored and co-authored research papers for the OBA newsletter and OBA Institute, and he regularly appears before municipal committees and councils, the Ontario Municipal Board and the Assessment Review Board.
