Biography
Fil was born and raised in London, Ontario. He attended the University of Western Ontario on scholarship and graduated with distinction in 2002 with an Honours B.A. in History. He received the W. Donald R. Eldon Scholarship and Robert LaVerne Eagleson Gold Medal as the top graduating student in the undergraduate history program. He also attended law school at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 2005.
Fil articled at a mid-sized firm in Kitchener, after his Call to the Bar in July 2006, he returned to the firm as an associate. In February 2021, he co-founded Amaral Mendes LLP. His practice includes civil litigation, employment law, insurance law, municipal defence, professional negligence, and estate administration and planning.
Fil is fluent in Portuguese and French, having learned to read, write and speak both languages at an earlier age. He lives in Waterloo and is also an active member of the local community, volunteering some of his time to the various causes.
