Biography

Amelia Choi, B.Sc., M.Sc. (Computer Science), J.D., is an Intellectual Property (IP), a registered trademark agent in Canada, and a notary public of Ontario. She counsels domestic and international clients in all intellectual property (IP) and corporate legal matters, and assists in securing IP protection, enforcing IP rights and commercializing IP assets. She is the Founder and President of ChoiTechAndLaw Professional Corporation, an IP firm that provides comprehensive IP and business legal solutions, and trademark agency services. She has successfully represented clients before the Canadian Trademark Opposition Board, and has provided extensive litigation support in several pharmaceutical and technology-related patent trials before the Federal Court of Canada. She is often invited to speak at international IP conferences, seminars, and workshops; Canada-China economic & trade investment forums, and law school; and has published several technical and legal papers in various international journals. Amelia represents Canada in the Presidential Task Force for SMEs and Entrepreneurship at the International Trademark Association (INTA) in 2018. She has served as the Vice Chair of the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee as well as the Chair of the IP Trade Policy Committee of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) that advises Canadian government on IP-related issues for free trade agreement negotiations. She has also served in the INTA Commercialization of Brands Committee Leadership Team, as well as the Chair of the INTA Brand Growth Strategies for SMEs. She has always been very passionate about building partnership between Canadian municipalities, businesses, and institutions with those in other regions, especially in Asia. She has played an instrumental role as the only Canadian IP lawyer in several trade mission delegations to that region, and has successfully fostered bilateral partnership. Prior to her legal pursuit, Amelia has held numerous senior corporate leadership positions in several Fortune 500 multinational high-tech and information technology companies, and has extensive R&D experience. She has a proven track record of building and leading global multi-disciplinary teams in successfully delivering multi-million dollar cutting edge technologies and end-to-end innovative business solutions.
