Biography

Melissa M. Babel is recognized as a Certified Specialist in Citizenship and Immigration Law by the Law Society of Upper Canada, and is the founder of Babel Immigration Law. With over a decade of experience practicing exclusively in the field of immigration law, Melissa has a unique combination of experience in corporate immigration – advising multinational corporations in strategic immigration planning and compliance matters, facilitating the transition of employers’ foreign work force to permanent resident status and proactively advising on immigration policy development and processing issues – while also having appeared before all levels of the Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Federal Court. Melissa is frequently called upon to speak to professional organizations and the private sector and she is licensed to practice in Ontario, Newfoundland and Massachusetts. Melissa is the Vice-Chair of the Ontario Bar Association, Citizenship and Immigration Executive.
