Biography

Aarij S. Wasti is a Canadian lawyer with 17+ years of experience and is qualified in Alberta, England & Wales and Pakistan. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and a Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law School. He also has completed a number of executive education programs including from Cornell, UPenn, University of Toronto, Cambridge and Princeton. After spending more than a decade in private practice, Aarij has spent much of the last decade working on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, first on the historic winning bid, through the decade long planning cycle and now on the delivery phase. After working on the World Cup project in various capacities including as external counsel and as part of the in-house legal team at Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Aarij is now working at FIFA's joint venture with Qatar. As the Legal Director, Aarij is responsible for ensuring World Cup operations are legally compliant. He is also Company Secretary to the Board of Directors of the FIFA Ticketing entity in Qatar. Aarij, a sports enthusiast, spends his free time traveling with his wife and two daughters and volunteers both formally and informally. He has recently been elected to the Board of Directors of the American School of Doha (ASD) and appointed by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar to the Pakistan Business and Professionals Council LLC (G).
