BAIL THE BOAT: ADDRESSING ONTARIO’S OVERFLOWING CIVIL COURT SYSTEM

If you can’t attend one of the live sessions, you can still participate.

All members are invited to share ideas for immediate ways* the civil backlog could be reduced.  All ideas will be reviewed by a ‘jury’ of senior members of the bar and policy experts against the following four criteria:

  1. Built and taken down quickly
  2.  Accomplished without major systems, technology or other structural changes
  3. Done with existing resources or small investment
  4. Targeted at the most significant delays (whether that be in practice area, appearance type of region)

* Note that the OBA is also striking a taskforce to work on meaningful long-term civil justice reform. Bail the Boat is intended to focus on ideas to get some short term immediate relief.
