Kate Julien was recently appointed Chair of the Public Sector Lawyers Section Executive of the Ontario Bar Association. I took some time recently to sit down virtually with her to chat about her career in the public sector.
Kate’s interest in the public sector began well before law school when she worked as a political staffer for two Cabinet Ministers, both of whom she supported as they headed a variety of provincial ministries. In this role, she witnessed how policy moves from idea to implementation. Kate has always liked rules and putting the puzzle pieces together into a coherent scheme. Building on her political policy experience, going to law school presented an opportunity for her to learn more about the legal system and the impact of legislation.
