DESCRIPTION

For more than a quarter-century, Alberta's Franchises Act stood alone in Canada's pre-sale disclosure landscape.  Then, at the turn of the millennium, Ontario - at long last - followed suit with the Arthur Wishart Act (Franchise Disclosure), 2000.  Suddenly, just last year, with the model francshise law developed by the project team of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada in hand, PEI passed a similar law, to be followed weeks later by the announcement that New Brunswick was not to be left behind.  Which province is next? And can lawyers afford to ignore, at considerable peril, the new proliferation of franchise related legislation?  This full-day program will enlighten, surprise and instruct on the ins-and-outs of dealing effectively with the ever-increasing regulation of what is arguably the most dramatic engine of business expansion in history.  Precedents, papers, Q&A: it's all here, together with a keynote address by a top industry leader who will put it all in perspective.  The combination of plenary presentations with choice of breakout sessions will enable registrants to build a customised program of greatest relevance to their indidvudual practice needs.
