The Elder Law Section was pleased to present, in person, the section’s first OBA Award for Excellence in Elder Law on Sept
ember 7, 2022.
Amy MacAlpine, the former chair of the section, was honoured to present the award to Melissa Miller of Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP.
Melissa’s practice focuses on nursing-home negligence, long-term care cases and elder abuse.
A close colleague and mentor, Adam Wagman, spoke to Melissa’s outstanding accomplishments and dedication. Melissa has demonstrated an active and very public role in fighting for Ontario Seniors during the pandemic.
She has testified before the House of Commons Standing Committee, co-created Canadians4LTC, has been interviewed by numerous media outlets, and was part of a demonstration on Parliament Hill, just to name a few of her impressive accomplishments.
