York University is seeking a collaborative and adaptable litigation lawyer to join its team as Counsel, reporting to the General Counsel. The successful candidate will work across a wide array of administrative law and litigation matters, with a focus on student and employment related matters, and advise on the drafting and interpretation of policies. Exposure to access to information and privacy matters would be an asset. The Counsel will partner closely with departments across the University, providing practical advice on risk and policy matters. This role will suit a lawyer with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience with general litigation and labour and employment law matters and, ideally, experience advising clients in the educational or broader public sector. This is an exceptional opportunity for a candidate with excellent judgement and exceptional communication skills to join a collegial team and contribute to key strategic initiatives.
