TORONTO – The Ontario Bar Association (OBA) is honouring Patricia Jackson, one of Canada’s most successful civil litigation lawyers, with its prestigious Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation.
Jackson, a partner at Torys LLP in Toronto, is widely regarded as a distinguished trial and appellate litigator who has contributed to precedent-setting cases at all levels of courts and tribunals. In a broad litigation practice that spans over 35 years, she has earned a reputation as a trailblazer, educator and devoted lawyer. She is a past recipient of the Law Society Medal, and has been named to dozens of prestigious ‘top lawyer’ lists, including multiple categories of Chambers Global and Best Lawyers in Canada for the last 5 years.
“Trisha is an incredible role model, both in terms of personal professional accomplishment and in terms of giving back to the profession. In addition to exceptional advocacy skills, she has frequently been recognized by her peers as an extraordinary teacher, mentor and role model,” said Guillermo Schible, founder of Schible Law and Chair of the Nomination and Selection Committee.

The award will be presented to Jackson at a gala dinner on October 22, 2015 at the Ritz – Carlton Hotel in Toronto. The dinner will feature guest speaker The Honourable Louise Arbour, jurist in residence at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and former Supreme Court of Canada Justice.
The award recognizes exceptional contributions and achievements by members of the OBA in the following areas: outstanding advocacy skills; professionalism, integrity and civility; teaching of civil litigation and practice; the enhancement of the practice of civil litigation; and leadership in the civil litigation bar. Past award recipients include: Jeffrey Leon (2014), John Evans Q.C. (2013), Bryan Finlay, Q.C. (2012) and Harvey Strosberg, Q.C. (2011).
