Justice Agarwal has been a distinguished class actions practitioner and partner at Bennett Jones LLP. He has also been an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto and a co-author of Class Actions Law and Practice. In addition, he is a past president of the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto and First Vice President of the Ontario Bar Association.

The Ontario Bar Association is stepping up to provide critical legal information this month – Seniors’ Month. These free online information sessions being held in regions across the province are designed to help seniors, families and caregivers learn more about the rights and responsibilities of older adults and those who care for them.

The Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, has appointed 4 new judges to the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario and they will sit in Toronto (Justice Osborne and Justice Centa), Newmarket (Justice Fraser and Justice Daurio).

The OBA congratulates Justice Matthew Stanley on his appointment to the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph effective April 28, 2022. Justice Stanley, a sole practitioner, is known for his criminal defence work, as well as real estate, wills, and corporate matters.

Justice Szandter has been a distinguished child protection lawyer and family mediator, as well as past counsel to the Motherisk Commission.  In addition, she has been an adjunct professor for 20 years with the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and, most recently, focused her curriculum on Indigenous child welfare and anti-Black systemic racism.

Effective April 21, 2022 the province’s eintake digital platform will be available in courthouses in  Brampton, Brantford, Burlington, St. Catharines, Cayuga, Hamilton, Milton, Orangeville, Simcoe and Welland.  This will ensure prosecutors, courts and police have modern, digital tools to work quickly and efficiently

The Government of Canada is looking to fill retiring Justice Moldaver’s seat on the Supreme Court of Canada and will accept applications from qualified Ontario candidates until May 13, 2022. The Independent Advisory Board for Supreme Court of Canada Judicial Appointments will be led by the Honourable H. Wade MacLauchlan.
