To be held in conjunction with the Fall Council Meeting of the Ontario Bar Association ("OBA")
In accordance with the OBA By-law, all members are hereby advised that the OBA annual meeting is scheduled to take place on:
Friday, September 25, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Residence Inn by Marriott, St. Lawrence Ballroom B, 7 Earl St., Kingston, Ontario
By-law Changes:
Over the past year, the OBA Council, on the recommendation of the Board of Directors and the Governance Committee, approved several amendments to the OBA By-laws. The changes pertain to a number of matters including definitions, changes in election and voting procedures, standing and special committees, and mandate and role of the Audit Committee. As a result, the following motion will be presented at the OBA annual meeting on September 25, 2015 in Kingston to ratify Council's decision:
- WHEREAS the Governance Committee and the OBA Board of Directors recommended a number of changes to the OBA's By-laws over the past year;
- AND WHEREAS the OBA Council, upon due consideration, approved the By-law changes recommended by the Governance Committee and the Board of Directors at its meetings during the course of the past year;
- AND WHEREAS the By-law Amendments approved by Council over the course of the past year are or have been in effect since June 12th, 2015 or earlier;
- THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
- The By-law amendments approved by the OBA Board of Directors and OBA Council, listed by sub-section in Appendix "A", attached hereto, be and are adopted.
