Summary of Role

The Professional Development (PD) Project Manager and Market Intelligence Specialist project manages, facilitates and executes select PD programs. This includes liaising with volunteers, program chairs and faculty. The PD Project Manager and Market Intelligence Specialist also gathers market research and member/customer intelligence to guide the design, development and promotion of PD programs.

Reporting Relationship

The PD Project Manager and Market Intelligence Specialist works under the supervision of the Senior Director of Professional Development, and in conjunction with Professional Development Lawyers and PD Coordinators.  The PD Project Manager and Market Intelligence Specialist is a part of the Professional Development team.

General Responsibilities – Project Management

The PD Project Manager and Market Intelligence Specialist is responsible for the following tasks and duties in respect of the project management of PD programs: 

  • Work with CPD liaisons and section chairs to prepare an annual PD plan for each assigned section.
  • Participate with other Professional Development staff in developing the CPD curriculum and annual PD schedule.
  • Update and maintain internal PD tracking documents.
  • Secure program chairs where needed, with input from the Director and CPD Liaisons/Section Chairs as required.
  • Communicate requirements and deadlines to program chairs for submission of program descriptions/agendas and proposed speakers and follow up as needed to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Arrange planning calls for program chairs, as needed.
  • Conduct preliminary review of submissions for completion and follow up with program chairs for additional information if needed.
  • Liaise with Director to approve submissions and communicate approval to program chairs.
  • Assist program chairs with invitations to speakers as needed. Follow up with program chairs as needed to ensure speakers are secured.
  • Coordinate with the Director to ensure that programs are accredited where possible, and accreditation requirements are met.
  • Evaluate and report on programs following delivery, identifying appropriate changes in program design and content for future events.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

General Responsibilities – Market Intelligence

The PD Project Manager and Market Intelligence Specialist is responsible for the following tasks and duties in respect of market intelligence: 

  • Gather, analyze and apply market research and member/customer intelligence in order to provide guidance in the design of PD programs.

Qualifications

This position requires:

  • experience in market research, data analysis, intelligence gathering, and the use of data analysis and modeling tools
  • knowledge of Power BI and association management systems
  • superior organizational capabilities
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
  • comfort in communicating with professionals at all levels
  • good computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • working knowledge of budget preparation, including maintenance and reconciliation of miscellaneous financial records relating to corporate programs
  • the ability and desire to work both individually and as a team member
  • the ability to multi-task
  • tact and good judgment.

Experience in working with volunteers, as well as knowledge of iMIS database system and web-based applications and bilingualism in French would be assets.

This is a new role with a salary range of $70,000 - $75,000.
