Technology and the law may intertwine in the ivory towers of some law schools, but few academics and fewer practitioners have applied themselves to answering the question of how technology can be used so the general public is served better by lawyers and the legal system.

In R. v. Jordan the SCC ruled that the delays that have plagued the criminal justice system will no longer be tolerated. The majority set a presumptive ceiling of 18 months to complete a summary conviction matter and 30 months to complete an indictable matter. As a result, some have panicked, however fear mongering will not help solve the problem.
