Currently pursuing an LL.M in Canadian Law at the University of Toronto, I am on my way to becoming a licensed lawyer in Canada. At Duolingo, I am part of a vibrant, multicultural team, contributing to the growth of a leading language platform valued at $2.4B. My educational journey includes a Bachelor's in International Relations, a Law degree, and a Master's in Development and Society. These achievements have not only set a foundation for my career but also fueled my commitment to education and justice. Biography
Rui (Ray) Zhang is a third-year law student at the University of Ottawa, deeply committed to fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity within the legal community. As a first-generation law student and immigrant, Rui intimately understands the challenges faced by minority students and is dedicated to contributing to their advancement. This summer, Rui worked as an articling student at the Ministry of Attorney General, Crown Law Office Civil (“CLOC”). He will be returning to the CLOC to continue his legal career and serve the public interest, a value he holds dear. Throughout his time at law school, Rui has been actively involved in various student organizations. He has served as a peer mentor, guiding future students through the intricacies of the legal field and helping them navigate their academic journey with ease. Additionally, Rui was instrumental in establishing the Chinese Law Student Association (CLSA) at uOttawa. CLSA is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where students from all backgrounds feel valued and empowered. By breaking down barriers and transcending geographical boundaries, CLSA aims to unite students from diverse backgrounds, fostering meaningful connections, mentorship opportunities, and lasting friendships.
