The Ministry of the Attorney General deployed changes to its JSO platform on November 24, 2025, to broaden filing options and improve the overall user experience for filers.
The following changes will be made to the filing portals:
- The Family Submissions Online portal will allow for the filing of adoption and openness documents.
- Users will be able to withdraw their document submissions at any time before being processed by court staff.
- The Civil Claims Online portal will allow the filing of a notice of intent to defend or a defending document by parties added as a statutory third party under section 258(14) of the Insurance Act.
- JSO will require multi-factor authentication when logging in to enhance the security of accounts, verify the user’s identity, and comply with data protection standards.
Some of these enhancements were informed by feedback received from self-represented filers and members of the legal profession.
