Improving the Justice System

The OBA Foundation believes in an Ontario bar that belongs to everyone. Our ongoing work includes funding projects that promote legal education and access to justice, such as programs in marginalized communities, high school trial moots and fellowships in law and ethics.

  • OBA Foundation Scholarship

    We have recently launched a fundraising campaign to endow the OBA Foundation Scholarship to assist deserving students to realize their dreams of becoming lawyers. 

    We are currently raising $500,000 to endow the OBA Foundation Scholarship. With your support we will improve access to public legal education in Ontario and create a more inclusive bar.

    The OBA Foundation Awards recognize exceptional contributions to the improvement of the justice system through public legal education, innovative research, or other means.

  • OBA Foundation Strathy Award

    The OBA Foundation Strathy Award recognizes the contribution of an individual or group towards a greater understanding of mental health issues in the justice system and/or the destigmatizing of mental illness, whether through community work, research, teaching, activism, participation in the justice system, or otherwise.

  • Law Day

    Law Day is a national event celebrating the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Originated by the Canadian Bar Association and first held in Canada in 1983, Law Day is aimed at educating and informing the public about the role and importance of the law

  • Wolfe Goodman Award

    The Award was established by Joel Nitikman through his contribution and the contributions of numerous  lawyers and law firms across Canada in honour of the late Wolfe Goodman’s many accomplishments and contributions to Estates and Trusts law.
