- When did you first get involved with the OBA?
I first became involved with the OBA in 2023. As an internationally trained lawyer seeking to build community, I saw the OBA as an excellent opportunity to connect with other lawyers in Ontario.
- What is your role on the OBA Business Law Section?
I am the Student Member-at-Large of the OBA Business Law Section. I am also the Chair of the OBA Student Division and the Student Member-at-Large of the OBA Women Lawyers Forum.
- What is/are your specific area(s) of practice?
Corporate and commercial law, with a focus on startups, emerging and mid-sized companies, venture capital, equity financings, reorganizations, cross-border transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.
- How long have you been practicing?
I am currently articling and will be called to the Ontario Bar in 2026. I was called to the New York Bar in 2017 and the Nigerian Bar in 2013.
- What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
It can be nearly impossible to completely detach from work.
- What is the most interesting or fulfilling aspect of your job?
The most interesting part of my work is the relationships I build with people, including fellow lawyers, clients, and other professionals, while the most fulfilling aspect is seeing a challenging deal come together. I enjoy the process of thinking through the legal issues, developing creative solutions, and helping to bring all parties to a mutual agreement.
- If you were not practicing in your current area of law, what other area(s) of law could you see yourself in and why?
Possibly energy law. During my articling term, I worked on a number of energy regulatory and transactional matters and found the area particularly interesting. I could also see myself as a law professor, using my multi-jurisdictional legal background to help future lawyers develop a broader, global perspective.
- What are you excited for as an executive member of the OBA Business Law Section?
To contribute to and help shape the initiatives of the OBA Business Law Section from the perspective of an articling student.
- What is the one thing you would like to see the OBA Business Law Section do this year?
Enhance student engagement through increased in-person programming and mentorship initiatives connecting students and lawyers.
- Can you mention one exciting thing you have worked on recently?
At work, I recently participated in the Province of Ontario’s U.S. public bond offering. With the OBA, I am assisting with the coordination of the “Meet Your Business Law Section Executive” feature for the 2025–2026 OBA Business Law Section executive team.
- Where did you go to law school?
I completed my Master of Laws in Business Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. Before that, I obtained a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lagos.
- What was the most helpful thing you learned in law school?
Law school taught me how to analyze and manage information overload. It was there that I developed the ability to critically evaluate information and filter out what was most relevant.
- What is the one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you were still a student?
That nobody truly has all the answers, and that uncertainty is not inadequacy but a natural part of growth.
- What is your go-to mental health wellness activity?
Reading novels, aqua-fitness, travelling and, more recently, going for walks when the weather is especially nice.
- What is your go-to coffee order?
I am not a coffee drinker. I usually go for a London Fog or an Earl Grey with honey.
