About the Award
The award celebrates exceptional contributions by an OBA member in the field of privacy law. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding legal expertise, thought leadership, organizational impact, and mentorship in advancing privacy law in Ontario. Honouring excellence in practice, scholarship, and advocacy, the award highlights the vital role of privacy law professionals in shaping legal and policy developments in this evolving area.

Eligibility
This Award is open to any Ontario Bar Association member who has made contributions in the area of privacy law, whether in the private or public sectors.

Criteria for Selection
This Award recognizes exceptional contributions and achievements by an Ontario Bar Association member in the area of privacy law, including some or all of the following:
(a) outstanding legal contributions to the practice of privacy law;
(b) outstanding contributions in the development of privacy law through scholarly and other writing and through public speaking on privacy issues;
(c) outstanding organizational contributions in the private sector, in government and/or in the Ontario Bar Association in relation to privacy law matters;
(d) outstanding mentorship contributions to other lawyers through personally sharing knowledge, experience and skills; and/or
(e) other exemplary achievements in the area of privacy law. The Award is available only to individuals, not law offices or other organizations or groups.

Nomination Procedure
A nomination requires the signature of one OBA member in good standing. To assist the Committee, each nomination shall be accompanied by a one or two page summary of the reasons for the nomination, as well as a copy of the nominee’s current CV.
The nominee must be advised by the nominator that his or her name has been put forward for this award prior to the nomination deadline.

Selection Process
The nomination committee will review the nominations and select an award recipient.
The Selection Committee shall consider OBA policies, rules and guidelines on Diversity and Inclusion when selecting the winner of the Award.

A plaque is presented to the recipient.
