We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Lawyer to join our growing law firm in Toronto. The successful candidate will handle a range of cases in criminal law and family law. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Client Representation: Represent clients in criminal and family law matters, including bail hearings, Pretrials, Pretrial applications, motions, conferences, mediations and trials. 
  • Legal Research & Drafting: Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motion materials, factums, and Minutes of Settlements. 
  • Court Appearances: Attend Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, and other tribunals as required. 
  • Case Management: Manage files independently and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff. 
  • Negotiation & Settlements: Engage in settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolution where appropriate. 
  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all work adheres to professional and ethical obligations under the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).

 Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Education & Licensing: LL.B. or J.D. degree and licensed by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). 
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in criminal and/or family law (articling experience may be considered). 
  • Strong Advocacy Skills: Comfortable advocating in court and negotiating settlements. 
  • Legal Writing & Research: Ability to draft clear, persuasive legal documents. 
  • Time Management: Ability to handle multiple files efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Client-Centered Approach: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide compassionate, professional legal services. 
  • Bilingualism (Optional): Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or another language is an asset.
