The advent of virtual hearings, initially due to Covid-19, has brought with it many advantages. It is convenient for counsel and the Courts, and clients no longer have to pay for their lawyers’ travel time to Court in other jurisdictions where the matter can be heard virtually. Unfortunately, however, it has also led to confusion, as not all matters can be heard virtually, and the mode of hearing varies by area of law (i.e. civil, criminal, and family), and by region.
